Administrative Professionals Can Still Keep It Together!

The next 6 weeks will be busy with activity for many Administrative Professionals. I've heard the stories of upcoming activities that are going to be time consuming and loaded with details. From celebratory events, to organizational change, the business related quarterly reports and special corporate/association events.

Last year, I shared some tips in my Administratively Speaking newsletter on how to remain productive and less stressed. And, now during these very busy times, here it is again:

1. Set quarterly goals and review your progress weekly.  Sometimes our long term goals can over shadow the details of our short term goals.  Review your short term goals weekly or bi-weekly to closely track your progress. You may or may not need to adjust your end date for that goal.

2. Within the next 6 months, attend at least 2 of the following for either professional or personal development: conference, seminar, workshop, or retreat.  Make the commitment to become a better you and to become better at what you do.

3. You should have at least 1 form of motivation with you at all times.  It can be a book, a note, a cd in your car or a song on your mp3 player.  You never know when you are going to need it.

4. Update your image.  Create a new look with a new hair style or add a new color or two to your wardrobe.  A new look will enhance motivation.

5. Update your bio or resume.  It will remind you of how much you've accomplished.

6. Engage in a fun social or fitness activity on a regular basis.  It’s a great tension and stress reliever.

7. Get rid of time wasters.  Whatever they are.  Replace it with something more productive or meaningful.

7. Disengage, to reengage. When traveling from one large task to the next. Or, from work to home; meeting to home; meeting to the office; etc., take the time to mentally disengage so that you may release from one mental environment and prepare for the next set of events. Give yourself 20 minutes (more if you can) to wind down...so that you can speed back up.

Don't allow the upcoming weeks of activities slow your productivity and increase your stress.

You are still on the road to success!
